Benefic

Benefic is the traditional classification for planets whose default influence is favorable: Jupiter (greater benefic) and Venus (lesser benefic).

Benefics on chart angles, in dignity, or aspecting the significator strongly support the intent. Afflicted benefics (e.g., Venus square Saturn) lose some power. Modern astrology sometimes includes the Sun and well-aspected Moon as functional benefics.
